Seattle Veterinarians have learned to use a device to track the body temperature of a dog, a step that could save lives.
It’s an emergency protocol adopted by a number of U.S. cities including Los Angeles and San Francisco, but the Seattle veterinarians are working on an alternative.
The Seattle vet clinic has a machine that allows them to monitor the body’s temperature while it’s in the hospital and in the post-surgery period.
Veterinarians are also using a portable ultrasound machine, called a kangaroo cage, to measure the body fluid levels.
The vet says the kangaroos’ fluid levels can be measured through a small sensor attached to their collar.
